well, you guys remember the loud scraping sound i was complaining about before. well i found out what it was, it was the inner wheel bearing digging its way into the spindle!

i had to break the bearing to get the wheel hub off, and that left the inside retainer to the bearing attached to the spindle. it was dug in good and deep over 1/2" i had to take my dremel to it to get it off the spindle. i'm suprised that they did check it out when it was in the shop, since my dad did say he was haveing them check out everything to make sure my truck was completely safe

so anyway, i replaced the bearing and its doing good and rides good, but the spindle will have to be replaced since it was messed up so bad, the hub still has a hard time getting off.

so i'm thinking that this summer when i replace the spindles, i will get some djm 3" spindles along with some new 3" coils and new stuff for the rear to do a 6/8 drop

Sorry to hear of the bad news, but it does give you an excuse to go down.

Oh, and not to be so anal, but it's not a hub, it's a rotor. :p

after seeing low87's thread, maybe 5/7 would be good.

i know the front shocks i bought from you would be good for up to 3" springs, but how low are the back ones good for?

i mean, i'm already gonna redo my front suspension with the new bushing set, and get my crossmember, and a-arms powder coated(hopefuly) so i figure why not go lower!

of course i'll have to get my new tires and new shortie headers first though

why not just bag it? kp components is coming out with a bolt on 4 link kit for our trucks that makes the install all bolt on. your gona want to do it any way once your 6/8 and you scrape every where, might as well save up and bag it. i'm doing mine next year

ART already has a bolt on kit for our trucks. i thought about it, but all that extra equipment to run the bags is extra weight. sleeper trucks need to be light.

Eric... what did i tell ya?... it was the bearings.. we didnt grease them before we put them in.. DOH!

there should have been enough grease on there though, when i took it all apart today, there sure was a lot all over everything.

i checked the other side, and it was fine and really greasy also

art dosen't have a bolt in 4 link for our trucks. they have a bolt on cool ride setup for the front, and a weld in 4 link setup for the back of our trucks. the 4 link in back replaces the heavy leafs, and the front setup replaces the heavy coils, the air tank and compressor don't wiegh much at all, i'm betting i wll gain more from the better launch from a 4 link rear than i will lose from the negligable added weight

i'd rather not have to stress about getting the bars and brackets at the right angles, a bolt on set up is much easier to install and the brackets can be welded after everything is set up. if i do a bolt in i wil be able to install it all and drive it and make sure everything is perfect, and then go back and weld the brackets for added strength if i want.

just noticed that... a buddy of mine was talking about bagging his 1 ton, and there is a kit available for that. assumed that they were producing them for 1/2 tons too... my bad.

I hope you are talking about a total of 6/8 drop and not 6/8 from where you are at now.?...? I think you might be wanting a hovercraft conversion if you go that low... You will scrape all of the rice off the road. Go get 'em.

Come on Eric, join the club! Mike is right though, it's never enough once you get started. I want mine bagged now so I can go lower. Save money on this 'inbetween drop', skip it and go straight to bags.
