4x4 air bag suspension?
Anybody know of a air bag suspension for the 69-72 4x4 blazer? Not lowering kit of course. Im building my truck as a daily driver and want a smooth ride.

Re: 4x4 air bag suspension?
I've never come across a kit for one, but are you thinking about swapping the leafs for a link set up? I just can't see throwing an air bag between the leafs getting you better ride quality.

Re: 4x4 air bag suspension?
104" wheelbase + straight axels does not equal smooth ride. I cant see mine being much smoother than it is stock

The plan is to swap out the leaves for a link set up when I gain the knowledge. For now its just to see if its doable.

Re: 4x4 air bag suspension?
Everything is do-able with the money.. I gave this sort of a setup some thought years ago. What I would look into would be a F-150 front axle and lift kit front end parts. (I am asuming you want a lift). 6+ inch kits I believe will have longer front arms for the travel and it's all pre-engineered to keep pinion angles ok. and because it is a coil spring settup, it would be ALOT easier to put bags in. But you would want to have limit straps if you offroad it. I know that there once was a kit for later model dodge trucks that was aired down at about 6 inch lift but could go up to about 11 inch lift. A little extreame for a Blazer. With using the f-150 axle however you would have to use a different transfer case cause the pumpkin is on the other side from GM's. The rear axle prolly wouldn't be to hard if you were able to find a link bar setup. I'm sure someone makes somthing out there. But fab skills will have a very large play in this sort settup reguardless. I opted out with the plans because after thinking about it and going wheeling in the brush. There was a good chance of poping the bags with sticks or hard landings. Not to mention the expence of parts just to get it moving. Street rigs and very carefull wheeling would work out just fine I bet. Hope it helps

Re: 4x4 air bag suspension?
I have put bags over springs on the rear, I took 3 leafs out of the pack and used the bags to bring it back level, like you mine will be a daily driver 69 4x4 and want some degree of comfort. I am in the process of the build but now where close to completion.

im in a similar boat- daily driver type build-- but want a bit nicer ride -i know this is limited by solid axles.....even a modest improvement would be nice.

Re: 4x4 air bag suspension?
Leaf springs have limitations. You can pull the leaf springs off completely and build a custom coil over prerunner suspension for the Blazer. Or if money was no object and ride quality was priority. You can buy a 2007 or newer Cadillac Escalade. Pull the body off. Place 69-72 Blazer body on re-sized chassis. Done. Now your K5 will ride like a Cadillac. As long as we are all dreaming.

Re: 4x4 air bag suspension?
OK- You need to reproduce that and sell me one!
Side note-I saw a small fifth wheel pulling rig in the parking lot the other day and had to go check it out. I had only the front part of a leaf system and air bags under the rear section. This was stock from the factory I believe. Why wouldn't this work for us? I have an old set of traction bars that come off the top of the axle for axle wrap. A bit limiting for suspension travel but no wrap. Eventually I will put a Heim joint at the front to fix that.

I would love to see more pics of your airbag setup! Or better yet, I could look at it in person.....
