ball joint help
Well I got under way on my front drop tonight but ran into a problem. I took the cotter pin out of the lower ball joint, went to turn the nut but it kept turning along with the bolt. How do I get this ball joint out? Thanks

Be real careful and don't take the nut all the way off at first. After the ball joint is loose, put the floor jack under the control arm and slowly lower it down. If you remove the nut all the way, and that sumbiotch decides it wants to turn loose, it's look out Mary. Been there, done that, and don't want to do it ever again. Also, be careful with the coil spring. It's a good idea to chain it in, just in case it decides to fly out. I doubt will, but stranger things have happend. It's always better to be safe over sorry.

Ya thanks.....my dad read your site and we chained it up because he was saying how I could be be-headed...ha. I did everything right chained it up and put the floor jack underneath the control arm and was ready to put that new spring in but the nut kept turning with the bolt but now I know what to do. So tommorow I will finish up and get the bed back on and get the truck to the paint shop! I cant wait till its all done

if the ball joint is turning with the nut, then the spindle is already broken loose fron the ball joint and your nut is stuck on the threads. a pickle fork could do the trick though by pushing the spindle up and putting some pressure on the nut so you can get it off.
