Chrome glove box door

I got my glove box back from the chromer ...Its too chrome. They did a good job but it looks like a big old mirror. I want to paint the center black to match the instrument cluster. Anyone done this ? I'm wondering whats the best way to blacken the center so the paint sticks ? I dont want to blast it as I might screw up the outer edges.

It cost $200 !!!!! Ouch!

I put duct tape over the outer edges and tossed it in the bead blaster. Then primerd and painted like normal.
Turned out awsome.

you could scuff the chrome up a bit, the paint should stick if you hit it with a good primer first
