round heater hole as cold air intake
The title says it all, has anybody used the round fan hole on the firewall for a cold air intake?

Re: round heater hole as cold air intake
Hmmm, cold air intake for the engine I'm assuming (wouldn't work so well as a cold air intake for the A/C system). I can only think of a couple reasons not to. Just as long as you can keep leaves and junk out of the cowl, and unless snow or other debris regularly blocks it which is entirely possible in Idaho. Otherwise, if the intake from the engine were plumbed across to that hole and the hole were sealed all the way around, then the engine would be getting a sort of cowl induction air intake. The cool air would be pulled in from the base of the windshield down to the engine. Of course, you'd have to block off the interior leg vents too. The blockage issue would kill it for me though, knowing that a halfway decent dropping of snow could starve my engine for air.

Yeah, I didn't realixe that the cowl was connected to the leg vents. That kills it for me too.
