Realized the build sheet in the glove box
Yesterday, I realized the build sheet for my truck was in the glovebox. When I bought the truck, I was told it had a 350 in it. It's an automatic. Manual locking hubs.
Build sheet says it's a 305, 4 speed manual transmission, and automatic hubs... So, how can you easily identify if it's a 305 or 350? Also, any telltale signs that the truck was originally manual and converted?

Compare it to the VIN number. Auto and engine size will be in the VIN. Check the emissions sticker. What does it say? You have to decode the engine block number to know for sure without opening it up.

There will be a hole in the floor for the clutch linkage... Also the hump. But that's changeable

Re: Realized the build sheet in the glove box
There is a hole for the shifter. It has a cover bolted over it, so I didn't know if they just used the same hump or not. I'm gonna check the casting # on the engine when I get a chance, and see if it's a 350 like I was told or the original 305.

Re: Realized the build sheet in the glove box
Keep in mind, the glove box liner that has your spid could have been changed out...and not even be for your truck...compare it to your dash VIN before you spend any time chasing your tail.
