Installed AVS Shaved Door Kit
After looking at shaved door kits I went with a 4 channel kit from AVS. I picked it up from ridinglowcustoms.com for $150. Came with dual actuators, wiring harness and key fobs. The photo is of the 8 channel kit but it looks the same. I searched this forum for actuator install photos but didn't see any so I thought to share how I mounted mine.
AVS makes a 4, 8, and 12 channel kit. I only needed it for my doors so 4 channels was 2 too many. Leaves me room for creativity later The install was pretty straight forward. I started on the drivers door which took twice as long to install because I had to determine actuator location and figure out how to run the cables. Speaking of cables, this kit replaces the stock door rods with a cable to the latch and inside door handle. You still use the inside door handle to get out. As you can see in the photo I mounted the actuator across the inner hole of the door using brackets that came with the kit. This location leaves plenty of room for window operation. There's an optional cable guide to keep the wire from laying on the actuator (shown). Once I got the actuators in place the rest was easy thanks to the wiring harness. Just plug it all up and run the power. It opened the door on the first try but wouldn't fully close. I loosen the cable in the actuator and it fixed the problem. During testing the doors opened nicely. I have new door rubber so there is plenty pressure to push open the door without the need for pushers. Overall the install was quick and simple. I'm definitely happy with it. If you are looking to do the same I hope this posting helps. The bracket on the right is only mounted on the bottom which is why I put two screws.

Nice job! Did you switch to bearclaw latches as well, or use the origional ones? i have heard you had to switch, so I havent even looked into doing this when I repaint due to the additional cost.

Re: Installed AVS Shaved Door Kit
I Agree nice joband thanks for the information . I am ordering the same kit this week . Glad to know it works well . I have really been worrying about which kit to buy. I was leaning towards this one because of the dual motors.
Thanks Tim |

Re: Installed AVS Shaved Door Kit
Nope, didn't use bear claws. The stock latch worked fine. I simply connected the cable where the rod used to be and it opens with no issues.
