Question Stock Floor Bodydrop?

I have an extra frame layin around and I wanna know how to do a stock floor bodydrop. Do I just cut the frame in half then box it in? or what? Also where do I cut the frame? And what size metal do I need? Can I take metal and build the C-notch around the outside of the frame or do I have to build one like Lotik and Orange72 did? Thanks DeWayne

take 2x3 tubing in either 1/4" or 3/16" and lay in frame channels. i used 1/4" just to be on safe side since this is gonna be a daily driver. anyways lay it in the frame channels from the front of the frame all they way back past the cab. once you have it in weld some beads along the bottom to hold it in then after bracing the frame channels take a torch or sawzall and cut the top of the frame off and then weld beads along the top of the tubing and frame edge. at the front of the tubing on the outside i place a piece of 1/4" steel(pic 2) to give some structure support. at the opposite end of the tubing(pic3) i placed a piece of 2X3 upright inside the frame rails to give some more support so that the frame doesnt bow in the center. as far as the trailing arm crossmember goes, just sawzall it in have and brace it up like i did. on the step notch you dont have to do it like me and lotik did. member nsane did a step notch by cutting the stock frame out above the axle, raising it up and boxing it in with plate. anyways this is a lot and i hope you understand because im not to good at describing things. if you have any questions feel free to ask.

dang i forgot some stuff. you need to lower your body mounts 3 inchs before you ever cut the frame and you have to low the front of the frame 3 inches by cutting it off and rewelding it and then bracing it up.

So when you put the 2x3 tubing in just weld it to the bottom of the frame then cut the top of the frame off andweld the frame to the tubing? Thanks

yea thats it. i wouldnt get to carried away with the weld on the bottom though until you have it all cut out and some weld on top. also i would recommend putting a jack or something under the end of the frame below the 2x3 to hold up the frame when you cut it. even if you got it braced, the heat can cause it to fall a little.

i did it so that i could leave the bed behind the notch stock. you only need to raise the front of the bed 3" this way.
