What is my truck?
Can someone help me figure out what my truck is considered? I thought that it was a long horn but there are no holes for the emblem on the box sides. it does have the extra long bed. Also has anyone ever seen a paint scheme of med olive, yellow, med olive? Thanks in advance, C

Re: What is my truck?
looks like a longhorn to me could have had the fenders replaced or filled then painted just a guess though.

Re: What is my truck?
I've been stripping it to bare and did not find the holes. I did find factory paint under the grey on everything. The truck was olive and yellow with a yellow and black interior.

Re: What is my truck?
I got lucky just a little rust on it. surface rust on the frame was the worst of it. I was going to paint the frame till I found out about POR15. WOW THIS STUFF IS AWSOME!!

Re: What is my truck?
it's a longhorn, no question about it,
There were 3 part numbers for the longhorn bades, I'm not 100% sure which one was used and when, nor what the differences were, but I know that many of them were glued on, and not bolted. |

Re: What is my truck?
Looks great! What did you use to clean the underside and get it down to metal?

Re: What is my truck?
Quote:
To clean the underside I presoaked it in BEAN-e-doo (soybean based no gloves or mask needed 100% biodegradable), then I let it dry and hit it with the tools pictured. If you look close you will see a few oddballs - I used a pipe cleaner (used when roughing up the joints on copper pipes) to hit the real tight spots, I also glued a foam pad on to my electric sander so I could use sticky sand paper instead of having to buy the more expensive "hook and Loop" stuff. Missing from pictures are TIME, ELBOW GREASE, and some GOOD TUNES. Did this post get moved? Should I post this in another area?

Re: What is my truck?
How about the colors and options(or lack of)? has anyone run across the color combo before? med olive&yellow&med olive with a yellow and black interior and yellow firewall? Also what do the other options mean? Like no slip? is that posi or one wheel peel? This is my first build and unfortunately I have a whole buncha questions. Is there a site you can go to to see what it all means?

Re: What is my truck?
According to the color chart, code 573 is primary paint code 525 yellow and secondary or two tone color code 504 medium olive.
So the firewall would have been the yellow as was the entire truck with a medium olive roof and centerband if that was the two toning scheme. Yes that is a detroit locker diff! Posi! Cool truck! Tim |

Re: What is my truck?
longhorns have there own model number, but not VIN, there is nothing in any 67 - 72 chevy truck to tell what the wheelbase is.
For the 3/4 ton, a six cylinder will be a CS21034, while the V-8 trucks should be CE21034. If you're dealing with a one ton truck, the six cylinder will be CS31034, and CE31034 for the V-8 trucks. This info and more can be found on my longhorn web site, http://www.longhorntrucks.freeservers.com/ |

Longhorn Man, do you know if the side gas tanks were reproduced? Where can I find new ones?
