odd request, sun screen qustion for chrome domes
Hello, the time has come that my thinning hair is an issue while out in the sun, and tho, not bald, it's thin enough that I'm getting a nice burn already..
I can wear a hat while out and about but when working on the truck or the chevelle, it gets in the way.. is there a sun screen that doesn't make your hair look like a 50's greaser.. only other thing I could think of was those winter hats, that hip hop has made a year round hat,, if I could find a light colored one(white/tan) that wasn't winter thick.. I'd try that as it also keep the sweat out of my eyes.. and keep the hair clean.. any other ideas.. |

A welders cap with the smaller brim would work well from what I see, Luckily I don't have to deal with it yet.....

Re: odd request, sun screen qustion for chrome domes
i do my work in air conditoned garage so no problem there
at the beach i'm startin to wear hat for longer periods of time// actually after it gets tanned up there i've not noticed sunburning too often the strangest place i get sunburn is my ankels// i spend alot of time in the sun walking the beach and have to wear walkin shoes and socks for protective measure so if i'm just on the beach for swimming or lunch etc my feet are not covered and burn easy

Re: odd request, sun screen question for chrome domes
I'm telling you from dealing with my scorched dome , Cover it up . Don't worry about looks or style . Cover up
The sunscreens are ok if you are just chillin but working or hard playing you will sweat that stuff off and it runs in you eyes . That is fun . If it can be rubbed on , It will be rubbed off It never fails though I will forget my hat, dew rag , tee shirt and burn my lid . I love that snake skin , burnt , peeling deal . Wife told me once , "Wow thats so red you remind me of a match head" |

Re: odd request, sun screen qustion for chrome domes
I'm bald and white as the driven snow. I started to cut my hair short so I could use sunscreen on my head. Now I use a clipper without any guard and then cover my scalp with spray-on SPF 50. I keep a can in my Blazer for driving with the top off.
I tried using hats, but I got too hot and the back of my head/neck always burned. They do make sunscreen for the scalp/hair. I have some from Banana Boat that is a pump spray in SPF 15. http://www.medshopexpress.com/109568.html I also found these two that look about the same - http://www.sleekhair.com/7050.html http://www.lotionsucks.com/suncare.php#

Re: odd request, sun screen qustion for chrome domes
I was in the same boat and got a bad haircut and decided to shave it all off. I spend a LOT of time in the sun in the summer and just spray some on when needed and you are done.

I shave and use Headblade.com sunscreen, or a skull cap.

Re: odd request, sun screen qustion for chrome domes
Hat's for the most part, but I keep a bottle of "Bull frog" sun screen in the truck glove box and the saddle bag of the Harley. I like the Bull frog stuff, since it stays more than most after getting sweaty or a dip in the pool. Plus it isn't greasy, and won't burn your eyes as much when sweat beads get in your eyes.

Re: odd request, sun screen qustion for chrome domes
Do-rag, skull cap, or I cut the bill off an old cap, keep one hanging on the shop wall, or in the pickup.
I know your pain, but learned my lessons 30yrs ago dealing with sunburned bald knobs. Family and friends kid me about sleeping in my hat. Who cares, along as it's not cold in winter, or sunburned in summer. Cayoterun
