original 1972 caps,etc?

I just picked up a set of 4 wheels, tires, caps, stainless glamour rings that were to be original 1972 3/4 truck rims. however, the caps are not painted black like i see many are. they do have the GMC on them, and caps, rings look real nice. the wheels themselves are silver-ish?

does this sound right for this year?

I think we need a pic. I don't think trim rings came on these trucks.

I agree... I'm pretty certain '72 did not come with trim rings. Pics would help... but what you're describing I've seen on '73-'89 (not to say that all those years are the same - but I've seen that style running on those years).

Re: original 1972 caps,etc?

The post-72 caps weren't painted black in the center and were concave and 69-72s were convex. No beauty rings until '88 and those were 16"...we're talkin' 8-lug,right? Trucks came either with 16" split rims, which beauty rings won't work with,or 16.5s,which there has never been a beauty ring made for. '69s had silver/gray painted wheels. Not sure about '70 but 99.9% positive those were white. If your wheels are 16" and not split rims they are newer.

70 was white, seen at least one 3/4 ton early 1969 with body color rims...
