Transmission crossmember
OK, last night I went to remove the tranny crossmember so that I can reposition it for the 700r4. I could not get the upper bolts out. I have to lift the cab enough to get them out; is this just because my body mount bushings are so worn? I have a new bushing kit, so I plan on replacing them, but can I do it without taking the cab all the way off, i.e. one corner at a time or front then back?
Being as the bed and front clip is off, is it just the gas line, brake master cylinder, and the 4 bolts that hold the cab on; maybe it would be worth it to clean and paint the frame under there and the botttom of the cab. |

I had to jack up my cab a bit to remove my bolts, but my mounts are kinda MIA too, so I dunno if that is whay.
As for replacing the mounts, you can do them one at a time i fyou don't want to pull the cab off...just use something like a 2X4 board or something to distribute the weight...if you just use a jack it'll dent the floor, or rip it worst case cenerio. (or pop thropugh the rust in any of my trucks) |

Thanks longhorn,
I know about the rust situation, I am originally from Mansfield, and most of my family is still there. Rust is not non-existent out here, people bring it from other places. The 70 that I bought is rust free; an original AZ truck.
