new guy here This place is is BAD @$$
I need some help I trying to swap out the brake booster on my 67 what I dont know would my old proportioning valve work on a newer booster and would a newer booster work on my truck I see some booster with two small rods at the end the one i have has one longer rod only
Any help would be great |

I think the one you are talking about with 2 rods may be a hydroboost. The standard vac. can I put on mine was a single rod.
As long as you are still using the same master cylinder (and not changing from drums to discs), you can use all the original parts, including the prop. valve. If you are going from 4 drums to 2 disc/2 drum, you would need the correct prop. valve. There is a step by step on here somewhere (check the FAQ section). I did the swap on mine. Took less than an hour. One hint - take off the mc/booster bolts and move it away from the firewall before you try to take off the brake pedal linkage. This will drop the pedal arm down far enough to remove the bolt that connects the link to the pedal. Otherwise, you have to drop the steering column. The newer booster, I couldn't tell you. Depends on the mounting and size. Anything from the 67-72 range should bolt straight in. Welcome to the board. More info than you can ever use - but fun to try.
