Re: 59 apache bedsides
There was a thread on here a couple months ago discussing this subject and including at least one picture. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it.

Here Ya Go: Will It Work? The '55-'59 lwb fleetside on a '60-'66 Thread
I remembered someone using the word "rocket" in the post... so I searched on that. Last edited by lakeroadster; 05-11-2011 at 01:57 PM. |

Re: 59 apache bedsides
The older beds have a reveal along the bottom, as well as a rear wheel well opening lip width that wouldn't match the front.
Might be more cost effective and less work to just use the spear by itself or make your own spear? And this guy also used the bed side contour onto the tailgate. Very slick and a ton of work. Last edited by lakeroadster; 05-11-2011 at 02:33 PM. |

Re: 59 apache bedsides
I thought about doing that to the tailgate as one of my many ideas, all you would need is and extra bed side

Re: 59 apache bedsides
Here's another thread on the subject with some input and a couple of pics.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=439135 I STILL want to try this, but it looks like I'm gonna need at least 10 trucks for all of my harebrained "custom" ideas.

Re: 59 apache bedsides
Try this on for size...a mid 90's bed with reworked steps. Not near as much fabrication and they are cheap and plentiful. The lines seem to match perfectly. This is a shot of Josh Hernandez' custom '62 with a '98 bed.

Re: 59 apache bedsides
Really? You think so? Let's not hijack, as late model beds aren't really applicable to this thread, which is about "59 Apache Bedsides".
Here is a thread though that is on topic for the late model beds: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...late+model+bed Last edited by lakeroadster; 06-15-2011 at 03:36 PM. |

Re: 59 apache bedsides
My apologies Lakeroadster...I get a little excited when folks start talking about custom beds on 60-66 series trucks. I've always been a little disappointed in the way Chevrolet continued to utilize the '55 step side bed through the 60's. I'm planning a subtle "finned" effect for my '63 and I'd be interested to see any custom ideas before I start choppin'!
