parts interchange from 88 Jimmy to pickup
I have an 88 Jimmy I am going to part out to help me for my 83 short box build. The Jimmy was a Sierra Classic with a 350/700R4 with 84,000 miles. Runs great and drives OK. Interior wasn't bad till I left it over the winter and mold got at it.
What I want to know is what parts to keep to help me out for my 83 short box build. --I have taken out the bucket seats and console but suspect I would have to make custom brackets to mount them? --Does the front bumper mount from Jimmy to PU or do I have to change brackets? How about the back bumper? --The windshields I am pretty sure are the same. Yes? --Doors are the same? Yes? --How about 6 lug wheels? Will they fit fine on my 1970 6 lug 2wheel drive? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Re: Parting out my 88 Jimmy
You call that rusty? If you think that is bad then mine is baaaaaaaaad! For your '83, how about the mirrors, gauge cluster, any sort of switches or stuff like that on the inside?

Re: Parting out my 88 Jimmy
--I have taken out the bucket seats and console but suspect I would have to make custom brackets to mount them?
You can use the seats, but the brackets won't adapt well. Finding buckets seats brackets for trucks aren't easy, but you can modify the more common Suburban brackets to fit. --Does the front bumper mount from Jimmy to PU or do I have to change brackets? How about the back bumper? The front bumper and brackets are the same. The rear bumper will transfer over too. The outter brackets will work, but the inner brackets will not. --The windshields I am pretty sure are the same. Yes? Yes, they are the same. The only difference might be in internal antenna. --Doors are the same? Yes? The doors are the same. If the 88 has power, and the 83 does not you will need the harness from the cab as well. Be sure to drill the hole in the 83 door jamb to match. --How about 6 lug wheels? Will they fit fine on my 1970 6 lug 2wheel drive? The bolt pattern is the same. I "think" the center bore is the same, but you will need to verify that as well as backspace to ensure fitment. Please note that you must be a supporting member to post classified item. Re: parts interchange from 88 Jimmy to pickup
Sorry, not trying to advertise anything as I am doing it all locally, just want to keep as much as I can that I can use.
The truck here is not a serious rust bucket and I did drive it around the yard yesterday, but not having the papers makes it a pain, and from the feelers out on CL, it is better for me parted out. Keep having guys Email me for pieces. I have several SWB and one LWB parts trucks for interior and trim, but none have good windshields or front bumpers, and all have step rear bumpers. Have one good bench, but thought the buckets may be nice if they work. Since I have the room I find it is easier to take whole parts trucks then picking up individual pieces. Ended up being a bit of a hoarder by now and I need to clean up.....LOL.....As much for me as for my wife who is understanding, but three SWB, one long, one extra frame, two extra step side boxes, the Jimmy and then theres more misc junk (all 73-87). Now that I am confessing my sins, ........a complete 69 GMC, the original 1970 beater chev, now a 1969 frame with a box and posi rear, and my browny points with the wife was getting rid of a 1972 long rust bucket that was supposed to be here for a month but ended up a year and a bit. Good news, just as I was typing this a guy I had talked to phoned and wants the motor, tranny and front clip....may make my wife happy yet....LIKE IF..LOL
