Cheyenne Super Guy's...Help me out!

As you can see from the pic my glove box door woodgrain decal is peeling. I would like to replace it with the Cheyenne Super decal with the trim. Does anyone have any info or pics on this? I have never seen one up close so i don't know if the trim is part of the decal or not. The Brother's catalog i have lists a 67-72 woodgrain decal with trim for $49.99, part # GBW9603 but i can't find it on their website. Is this what i need or what?? Joseph

Re: Cheyenne Super Guy's...Help me out!

I am not sure what you mean by “Cheyenne super” decal, but I assume you mean the emblem. They make them aftermarket and I think they are nice pieces. As for the wood grain, it originally came on a thin piece of aluminum that was formed and glued to the glove box door. As far as I know the aluminum part is not reproduced. Some people just stick a wood grain sticker to the door like yours, but I would buy a used aluminum piece off an original Cheyenne super and put some sort of wood grain on that.

Re: Cheyenne Super Guy's...Help me out!

The Cheyenne Super glovebox applique has the woodgrain photo etched onto it. But,you can freshen one up with a new sticker. You may or may not have the same issue with peeling. Careful application on a dry clean surface is the key. Just keep on rubbing, even when you think you have it stuck on good. The Truck Shop, the original one owned by Jerry Brown in Crossville,TN,makes nice decals in the correct pattern. You can buy one attached to an original Cheyenne Super applique. Their website is www.thetruckshop.com

Your best bet is calling. They're not real website oriented. They may just have a limited supply since they use the applique.

Wes,how long is it? I want to make my truck a woody...Got 35-40 feet?

Re: Cheyenne Super Guy's...Help me out!

Here is another option I have been thinking about. Contact these guys tarjac and see if they can put the correct woodgrain pattern on one of the original aluminum applique's. Looks to me like they should be able to duplicate how they were originally done. Anyone else thought about this?

Re: Cheyenne Super Guy's...Help me out!

Thanks for the replys. I was really wondering if the Brothers part included the trim or not. I know the trim came on the supers only, but i like the way it looks and thought it would be a good way to keep the decal from peeling up again. Thought i could buy a new $12.00 dollar decal and use the trim to redo my glove box door. How is the trim fastend to the door, does anyone have a pic of one disassembled?? Thanks again. Joseph

I can't find a pic of the aluminum part, but here is one of a door that shows the glue.

Re: Cheyenne Super Guy's...Help me out!

Thanks guys. Hmmm..it looks like it is going to be hard to find some good used trim! I would probly never be able to get the trim off another door to put it on mine without bending it. I would still like to see a pic of the trim off of the door though. Sounds like this is going to be a PITA!! Joseph

Re: Cheyenne Super Guy's...Help me out!

just an fyi from what I've read/heard....

jerry brown buys his woodgrain overlays from CSM. They are the only one with any more of that particular 3m grain. although it is lighter than your door panel woodgrain in the picture. I had a set restored to match the gauge bezel, glovebox door, and the door pieces so they all match now.

Re: Cheyenne Super Guy's...Help me out!

No one at all sells the correct pattern of woodgrain in vinyl. I have a roll of NOS 3m Di-Noc that is the correct grain dated 1975 or 76'. The color is darker, but sometime when I have enough coin, I am going to get it scanned and printed in the correct color, and will probably sell rolls of it for original resto guys. The assembly line glovebox doors and door panel pieces were transfered onto the aluminum and to my knowledge not vinyl overlayed. Every single original piece looks the same and just by cleaning it, it can remove the pattern. I prefer the vinyl approach because you can clean it. They make products to keep the vinyl from peeling. As far as gluing the trim back on to a glovebox door, Liquid Nails works best and looks similar to what the factory glue looked like. Trevor

Re: Cheyenne Super Guy's...Help me out!

Here's the ones I got from Cheyenne Super Man (All matching-but all lighter than the factory style woodgrain but I was more concerned with it all matching)

again-might want to price out CSM and Jerry brown since Jerry buys his made from Gary (CSM) I'm guessing Jerry's cost a lil bit more

Have a body shop that does frame straightening take a look at it. I really can't say without seeing it. Doesn't sound too good, though.
