Belt Buckle Removal question

I have a stock set of bench seat belts (3). I am going to dye the belts and use Krylon vinyl and plastic spray paint to restore the plastic part of the buckles. Is there a way to remove the plastic piece on the buckle without breaking it? I would like to paint this by itself.

Re: Belt Buckle Removal question

fyi: I've never been successful at removing them without breaking a piece of or totally ruining them. Plastic has become hard and brittle after 40 years of hard and cold. Be very, very careful and pry from the back end with a small screwdriver.
