Does anyone else here enjoy their cabin sound?

I see a lot of people on the site talk about sound deadener for their cab and about how they want to reduce the sound of the drone of the exhaust (a lot of the reason why people dont like flowmasters). This is understandable. However, I love the sounds booming through out my cab. When my truck hits around 1700 rpm (and at WOT of course), it makes the most aggressive and awesome sound that I dont here out of any new trucks. When someone asks me what sound system I have in my truck, I say 40 series flowmaster.

I've always loved these trucks for what they are,as they are. I like that they are not like modern trucks. In fact,I've been saying for a few decades that these are as modern as a truck ever needed to be. I am an early hauler lover.

Re: Does anyone else here enjoy their cabin sound?

I have no carpet or mat and am running dual cherry bomb glass packs coming out just ahead of the rear wheels. It sounds right to me. Not too loud but you can feel the RPM by the rumble of the floor boards.

Re: Does anyone else here enjoy their cabin sound?

Since I have the "Radio Delete" option in mine I never wanted to put a radio in it. I've got full carpet, but don't see the need to put any sound deadening material.
And since I'm running Hedman headers and Hooker Aerochambers, what I'm hearing is music to my ears.

Re: Does anyone else here enjoy their cabin sound?

I agree , I love the trucks for what they are, a truck. One of my favorite sounds as a little guy ( 50's & early 60's ) was the sounds of a truck with a three on the tree. The most beautiful music was listening to a small block 283, 327 with a three on the tree as it pulled away from a stop and the driver went throgh the gears...

Re: Does anyone else here enjoy their cabin sound?

My '05 has no significant advantage in sound deadening. The plastic interior rattles more aswell. Before I put on a quiet muffler, the drone was terrible. There is less wind noise, but my c10 barely has any window sealing left. I would liken riding down the interstate in it to a WWII bomber, wind and magnapaks turned out behind the cab. It's a symphony to me. No radio needed. Should be even better with a real motor

I enjoy my 40 series 2 chamber flows that are ran to the front of the rear tires. If it were dumped under the cab I would hate it.

Also anyone running "Smitty Glasspacks" STILL? What are your thoughts on them? I want to run dual set up on my 350/th350 and would like them all the way to back bumper.

At last, I thought I was alone I have read so many threads with folks installing sound deadner and I have quietly wondered ...why? I adore the sound of all pre 80's American iron, so long as it's not raining, my windows are down for an even louder fix of my 454 with HH & Flows....sweet music.

Re: Does anyone else here enjoy their cabin sound?

does anybody else notice you can hear the cars coming up beside you when you're cruising down the road and know there there without even looking over? that's why I like these old trucks you can hear everything around you, there probably safer than the new vehicles because of that.

Dont forget flipping the air cleaner lid. Hearing that Q jet open up, BAHWOOOO.

Re: Does anyone else here enjoy their cabin sound?

I agree with all, I love the sound of my exhaust. I too can tell relatively how fast I am going because of the exhaust. I have long tube headers, cherry bombs, and resonator exhaust tips. I just recently put in some carpeting becuase I'm trying to purty up the truck! I'm working on putting in a radio but it will be a stock AM one with an OEM like speaker.

Conversation can be difficult pretty much anything over 50MPH!

It's funny even though my exhaust is loud, it has put my girlfriends daughter and her neice asleep on many a road trip. I guess it is just the load constant drone that makes em nod off. Good night!
