Bellhousing ID please...
I picked up a one piece aluminum bellhousing today and was wondering if anyone can ID it for me? The number is 3858403.
Thanks, Eric

Re: Bellhousing ID please...
Eric,
The Chevy "403" is an aluminum 153 tooth bellhousing with a 4 5/8" center hole. This makes it compatible with all GM 4 speeds (Muncie,Saginaw,T-10), except the 1963 small bearing retainer transmissions. According to the 1967-75 Chevrolet Parts Catalog this is the only Clutch housing listed for the 302 cubic inch engine (69 Z-28 Camaro). Yet the I.D. number is 3840383. LockDoc

Re: Bellhousing ID please...
So it looks like a desirable one anyhow. I don't do much with manual transmissions, more of an auto guy. Do you know if there is a good market for these? Or are they very common? Thanks for the help leon.

I think they are pretty common. Should be worth $65-$100 I would think.... LockDoc
