I made a trailer out of a 3/4 ton chassis, leaf springs, and has a possi rear end. It is hard to make sharp turns when rolling by hand, (man power) I am thinking its because of the possi. I dont want to go thru trouble of swapping out entire rear end, so wondering if I can take out all the guts inside and make wheels roll like a non possi should. Any comments, thanks

Yes, Remove all the guts, axles, brakes etc, then remove the hubs and grease the wheel bearings just like you do on the front of a vehicle. (without the guts the wheels bearings will not get any lube) then make a plate/dust shield to cover up the outer axle shaft flange (or chop the shafts off and use the outer piece for a dust shield)

remove the axle shafts, and have some plates made up to replace them. Bolt on the caps with some sealer to prevent leaks, add some oil for where you lost it pulling the shafts, and the wheels will roll with only bearing resistance, the diff will be disconnected.

before you go tearing it all apart find someone with the same rear end thats an OPEN rear end and trade/sell it to them..... do you know what truck/year it came from ? easy to find a person that would want a good posi setup..... couple hours and everyones happier....

If it's the HO52 rear you can just swap the whole differential with someone who has an open rear. I'd still run it with the guts removed,as suggested,but someone needs that locker

. I wonder if a rear cover would fit the front of the housing so you could lose the whole diff...or just make another plate to cover that. Then you just grease the wheel bearings like the front of a 2wd.

My truck's HO52 and I would so be willing to make that trade.
