what did you get done 5/22.2011 doomsday didnt come edition

IM still kicking around the idea of a crate motor for my truck..only other thing i did this week was to replace the blower motor as it was making all kinds of hideous groans especially on low fan..How about you all?

I filled one tank, but ran out of money for the other projects I was hoping to finish. oh, and I replaced the steering gearbox on the 20th in anticipation for post-rapture-looting. Kinda bummed that never happened.

Re: what did you get done 5/22.2011 doomsday didn't come edition

I pulled the valve cover off my 84 swb to get it ready to replace the valve stem seals only to find it sludged beyond help..... So I didn't do anything else to it as I was disappointed so I went and bought this 85 swb to cheer me up... I also put new upper and lower ball joints and pitman arm on my nephews 94 z71. I smashed my finger across the fingernail so now i am waiting for it to fall off. PICS OF NEW TRUCK!

Re: what did you get done 5/22.2011 doomsday didnt come edition

Ended up making a quick trip to Super Chevy with a friend. The friend asked me to ride with him to maybe buy a car and drive his car back home. After several phone calls the seller never showed. We made a trip through what should have been a vendor area, nothing to see. The one vendor selling truck parts didn't have any of the 3 items I was looking for, glove box, tail gate chains, or a roll pan. I did get to see the 73-74 reproduction grill, stunning to say the least.

The SC show has been on a downward spiral for the last 3 years, I'm done. At least this year I didn't have to fork over 22 bux to get in. My friend had a couple passes.

Worked on my 50 today, notched the cross member for fuel pump clearance and boxed the same.

Made a trip over to Arkansas to pick up an '89 Jimmy. Drove it back 2 hours hating the mud tires on the front.

Re: what did you get done 5/22.2011 doomsday didnt come edition

My dad and I went up to VA on friday to the ironbridge park VA meet. We had a good time talking to the board members (VA72C10 and 2manyprojects) and checking out the rides. We went to the Super Chevy show on Saturday. We had a blast hanging out with some board members (VA72C10 and Jimmy and Vickie-didn't get the boardnames) in the swap meet area and checking out the show cars. I even parked my TBSS in the show. We had a blast even though the show and the vendors was disappointing.

Re: what did you get done 5/22.2011 doomsday didnt come edition

I got my truck back from the exhaust shop on 5/19 with it's new dual set up. I was inspired so I replaced the wiper blades, new air filter, oil change, topped off the tranny and power steering fluids, and cleaned out my bed and cab. Nothing major, but but I've convinced myself that I'm driving a new truck.

Went to the cruise in Mt. Airy, NC and wished I would have brought my truck. Only problem, it's hard to fit 5 in it.

Saw a very nice '86 SWB Silverado. Wished I had the dinero.

Replaced an old worn out distributor with an Accel GM HEI Performance Distributor. It was installed by a friend; still it needs some minor timing adjustment. Already noticeable improvement has been made; after all, she was down for a little over a week!

Tried to gather up the courage to pull the ground effects off the new to me 86. Already pulled the bed cover off and it made a huge improvement IMO.

Yes you did. Thats going to look great...

I was on call this weekend so I didn't get to work on my truck too much.I did manage to do one final fitment on all of the parts before tearing it down. I got the used parts bead blasted, and the filler panel dropped at the body shop.

Looks good buddy. Nothing wrong with a simple system.

I have always loved the 73-74 grill and wanted a truck with one. It's not a good time economically to build another truck, so I am playing with the one I have. I plan to keep all the spare parts, so everything I am doing can be reversed if I ever decided to.
