Ok this has been on my mind for awhile and i have to ask but my Vibration damper or harmonic balancer. Well it wobbles a little i had noticed it when i timed my engine. What kind of problems will i have with this going on. and what do you recommend doing to fix it.

i would buy a new one.. mine does this as well and i think my crank pulley is bent.. when i build an engine for it i will replace with a better one...

I will buy a new one but if i remeber right i heard it has to be balanced to match the crankshaft. which if this is true i will have to pull my engine. I hope some more of you guys can help me out on this.

Have a look at the rubber ring between the inner and outer half of the damper and make sure it is not trying to seperate.

My Z/28's came apart and it took out the timing cover.

Also, if you buy a decent one like say a Fluidamper or any any SFI approved one then it will be balanced quite well from the factory.
There will be no need to balance it with the crank.

Those Fluidampers are high but well worth it.
They make your crank bearings last much longer as they are tuned over a wider range than factory type ones.

A damper that has a wobble in it will ruin those bearings pretty fast as they put loads on them that they are not designed to handle.

Ok i will have to check that out. Also could that balancer wobbling like that make my engine feel like its missing or just running poorly at a idle i have also noticed when driving it the motor i guess shacks a little. also where would be a good place to look up those balancers.

It is hard to say if that could cause a percieved miss. I don't really think so because if it was off that much I think it would be going through the hood by then.

Jegs or Summit would be a good place to get them. They both have decent prices on them.
Fliudampers web site has a good FAQ you might want to try.

I found it dang those are spendy too.

Dang what was the SFI i might have to get that for now.
