Can a rear axle be straightened?

One of my axles is bent I think outside the bearing area. Both the wheel and drum wooble a bit.

Re: Can a rear axle be straightened?

Maybe, but it would take a pro with a set-up intended to do just that.
For the likely cost, I would just replace it......especially considering its age.

Re: Can a rear axle be straightened?

Where's the best place to buy another one. I saw LMC has them for $150.
That's the only place I looked so far.

Re: Can a rear axle be straightened?

I will have to rig something up to do that. I dont have the proper stuff for that.

Re: Can a rear axle be straightened?

I messed with it some today. I took the wheel off and left the drum on.

I dont have a dial indicator, but I kinda measured it a redneck way.

After all that, its about a 1/4" off from one side of the drum to the other. Give or take.

Its got a wobble for sure.

I noticed at LMC that the wheel bearing was over $100 too. This looks like a $250ish project when done.
