need help on a buy...
I'm new to this and will be my first old truck i hope the deal goes smooth. So all i know about the truck its a 1965 chevy c20 3/4 ton pickup. Its got a 327 V8 small block motor in it. The guy passed away and the wife is selling it. Said he been working on it to make it look like new again. i seen the truck and didn't get to fully check it out yet. My friend can get it for 3,000 instead of 7,000 that she was asking for other people. Is it a good buy? This is the only pic I have for now till i get back from slope. When i get back from slope work I'm gonna check it out and test drive it to see how she runs. let me know what all you guys think any info would be great. thank you

Looks to be a solid truck from the pic. It's hard to say if it's a good deal but 3k sounds decent. For 7k it'd better have gold pistons. She's smoking crack if she thinks she can get 7k for that thing.

Re: need help on a buy...
Welcome to the forum eric65chevy. Its very hard tell from a single pic what the value might be. If it is a rust free truck, and it appears to have decent paint on it, then 3k is a good deal. The 7k asking price is about double what it's worth.
Say hello to Sarah P for me...

Re: need help on a buy...
Location - location - location..... are there many trucks of this era in Alaska?
If that truck was here in Colorado $3000 is high for a 3/4 ton longbed. If it was a 1/2 ton shortbed and was solid that would be a good price. I guess it all depends on if it is "the truck" model you want, if it is, and there aren't others similar to it available, then it is a good deal "if" the drivetrain and the body are solid. Good luck and be sure to let us know how things turn out. |

Re: need help on a buy...
Like everyone else said dependant on rust issues mechanical issues cosmetic issues and personal preference 3K doesn't sound too bad the short beds are still around in these but I like the long ones a bit better just me so if you like it and it's only 3k do it but like said for 7k you better pass out when you open the hood and drivers side door from how perfect they are cuase the outside doesn't say 7k yet not knocking your truck just it's not a restored piece that might have fetched that much good luck to ya.

Re: need help on a buy...
Thanks guys I have one more week left of work I'll check it out when I get home. I looked before only find them in worst shape. Not too many around up here. I only see more of the 70s And up around here. I'll let you know and get some more pics of the truck. The long bed doesn't bother me. It will be put in good use.

Welcome to the forum. I hope the deal goes well for you. From what can be seen that's a very nice looking truck. The guy might have really loved it and invested a lot of time and money, so it "could" be a very good deal. This link explains all the typical rust areas to look for. Good luck.
