Plastic seatbelt sleeve

Not the piece where you buckle in but the sleeve down near the floorboard. Anyone know how to remove those? I want to clean em up and spray em

Re: Plastic seatbelt sleeve

They just snap into place. Be careful or the 40 yr old plastic will break. I usually pull upward and pry one side then the other with a screwdriver.

Re: Plastic seatbelt sleeve

I think he's talking about the flexible sleave around the retractor. I have used very hot, boiling when leaving the stove, dip it in for a few minutes and it will slip off. Use gloves. Same for putting back on.

Re: Plastic seatbelt sleeve

It may be easier just to mask off everything and paint them. Just make sure you clean them very well before painting. I had pretty good luck with mine

Re: Plastic seatbelt sleeve

I had the same question. Was told to use a hair drier. Get them hot and they pull off a lot easier.

Wish I had known that before I DESTROYED mine with an Exact Knife.
It was all good though because I was replacing the whole set-up with some aftermarket retractables.
(it still hurt toi cut em' up though).
