What would you do?
I have a nice 66 327, 4 on the floor long bed that I bent a rod on. So it is parked but the truck is totaly straight, all chrome is in great shape and original plus the numbers match.
I also have my 68 (my all-time favorite body style and much more comfortable for daily driving) that has a 350 that was installed later by the fire department that previously owned it. I am driving it now but I have no idea how long the 350 will go, runs good but still do not know if there are many miles left on her. Anyway, I promised myself to not swap parts from one to the other but I would love to rebuild the 327 and put it in my 68. Then I would have my favorite body style AND my favorite engine combo. BUT, the 66 numbers would no longer match and it is in great shape, I am the third owner, my Dad being the 2nd who is indifferent to what I want to do. Both are long beds so I am inclined to just build my ultimate truck but what would you do? Last edited by ubtripn; 06-04-2011 at 11:05 AM. |

Re: What would you do?
Rebuild the 327, put it in the 68. then rebuild the 350 and put it back in the 68 and put the 327 back where it belongs. Or find a core 327 and rebuild that for the 68 and keep the numbers in the 66. Bottom line is it's your decision. I would keep the numbers together though.

Re: What would you do?
Rebuild the 327. You gotta keep them both running!

Re: What would you do?
I'd rebuild the 327 in the 66, and build a 406 for the 68!

Re: What would you do?
I would sell the 66, use the $$$ to build the engine you want. Unless you have boatloads of disposable income, stick with one project at a time.
If that isn't an option for whatever reason, get the 66 up and running as soon as possible... nothing destroys a vehicle faster than sitting neglected.
