47-51 Door Latch Spring Install?'s
I've been searching to find a method for installing the door latch spring so that the handle will return up after opening the door. I have what was left of the old spring removed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance |

Re: 47-51 Door Latch Spring Install?'s
Well I managed to get the spring installed. When the latch is flipped over with the spring side down you can see the tabs bent over that hold the spring. They need to be carefully straightened and then pushed through towards the spring side. Once the c shaped retainer is removed two round spacer/washers come off and a flat washer. Now the clip can be slid over the spring the flat washer then two round washer are put back on and everything is reinstalled and the tabs bent over as they were originally. I did manage to break off one of the tabs so I spot welded the broken side. I think addition of heat when bending the tabs straight would have prevented it from breaking.
