Vortec Header Questions?
Here's one that I need some help on please,
I have a Vortec head engine in my 72 K20. I'm running Hedman #69238 hedders. The exhaust ports do not match my cylinder heads ... restricted by over a 1/4 inch on the "width" of each exhaust port. The height of each port is good. I think there is a solution here, and it may be that there is a manufacturer that makes a 'Vortec' header for our trucks? Does anybody have experience with this situation, or know of a header that matches Vortec ports AND fits our trucks? Thanks for your help. 72longbed Last edited by 72longbed; 06-07-2011 at 04:12 PM. |

Re: Vortec Header Questions?
The number 6938 is an incomplete part number for Hedman Hedders, so I don't know just what you have. Are the primary tubes 1-1/2"? Take a look at Hedman #69230, they have 1-5/8" primaries. I haven't had an issue with 1-5/8" primaries on Vortec heads. They are supposed to fit the 4x4's well, and they don't hang down very far.

Re: Vortec Header Questions?
Sorry ... that's # 69238 ... and you won't find it in their catalog ... it's apparently no longer made. My primaries ar 1 5/8". The problem is in the width of each header opening, not the heighth.
Thanks. |
