Tilt columns

How hard is it to rebuild an original truck column?

What are the pieces that you would say should ALWAYS be replaced?

What should I look for in a good used column (typical problem areas)?

I can't answer your Q's but there is a great write-up with exploded views here.

Re: Tilt columns

It's not that difficult. Just disassemble, clean and inspect all the parts and replace anything that shows excessive wear. (Usually, upper and lower bearings and turn signal switch)
