My 1983 Chevy C10's BRAND NEW look!!!!!
ok guys, i spend from noon to 10:30 pm Saturday, minus a 2 hr break and about 1 hr this morning doing a FULL drop kit on my truck. I used a Mcgaughys 4.5" front/6" rear drop kit. It consisted of spindles and springs up front as well as a flip kit out back. I still have to install shocks and do some other minor stuff before i can drive it, but its fine as im waiting on a shim for my starter anyway. Heres some pics of it finished. If anyone wants any kind of write up/how to pics i will do those in another thread.
Before: ![]() After: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sitting on Bump Stops - removed and not much change, probably will end up needing to C-Notch it ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() for some reason this tire is MUCH closer to fender lip than other front tire, not sure if this is alignment issue alone or if i need to go back in and check stuff, i can BARELY get my fingers between tire and fender whereas left front i can fit fingers in there plus extra room ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well guys, let me know what you all think of the outcome and any suggestions on that right front tire being so different from the other three would be awesome, i know i still need to istall all 4 shocks, but i doubt thatll change this issue any. also, my buddy says since i lowered it factory alignment specs are incorrect and i need new specs that fit new parts. is this true or not.

Re: My 1983 Chevy C10's BRAND NEW look!!!!!
You should have chiseled off the rear bump stop bracket to give more clearance...then you just drill a little hole in the frame, and put in one of those little mushroom shaped bumpstops.
It's going to be more difficult to remove now that it's dropped, but not impossible |

Re: My 1983 Chevy C10's BRAND NEW look!!!!!
Truck looks good!
Go ahead and save for some 255/60 front tires. You will not be able to run those 275 for long on the front. I had them on mine and after I dropped it any little bump or dip in the road at speed and the fenders were chewing the sidewalls up. I only did the 2.5" spindles and it was eating my tires bad.

Looks awesome man. Since you changed springs you will definately need an alignment by the way.

Re: My 1983 Chevy C10's BRAND NEW look!!!!!
I had the same problem with my 84 except the drivers side was lower than the passanger side. Its drove me nuts to the point where I took it back apart to ensure the coils the seated properly (which they were).I ended up chocking it up to just a simple chevy lean and the lowering made it much more noticeable. I ended up using the little trailer coil spring spacers that they sell at auto stores to level it and it aligned just fine. So you not alone. haha

Re: My 1983 Chevy C10's BRAND NEW look!!!!!
That is exactly yhe stance I want for my truck, if and when I decide to lower it!
![]() There was a thread similar to this earlier in the week. Same situation. Look up Keith Seymore's recent posts. He gives a description of how the body/front end is put on at the factory. He also points to why one side could be closer to the tire than the other. He does an infinitely better job describing the situation.

Re: My 1983 Chevy C10's BRAND NEW look!!!!!
The look is absolutely cool!
I have that "Chevy Lean" at the rear right corner and i heard that it is quite common to our style trucks! I like your waist jewelery! Volker

Re: My 1983 Chevy C10's BRAND NEW look!!!!!
nice clean truck man!.....mine had the same prob with one side lower than the other, apparently its quite common....you should get rid of the rear bumpstop completely, and unless you haul crap in the back or hit a huge bump it shouldnt bottom out!...I never had a c-notch or pipe notch for a long time.

Re: My 1983 Chevy C10's BRAND NEW look!!!!!
rubber bump stops are out but bump stop "bracket" is still in place, both front corners are same height, just one tire is closer to fender lip than other. Hitch is already off and will be ordering sport bumper this weekend from LMC.
thanks for all the comments guys!!!!! Keep em comin!
