Re: the new guy

Welcome! I can't help with the 4x4 steering aspect but if you have an inline-6 I can help with the pump/pulleys/brackets. Post up some pics of your rig!

Re: the new guy

welcome to the board, and you should be able to get the power steering adapters and a 4wd steering box from a 70s/80s truck... dont quote me on that though, i havent seen too many 4wd mid 60s trucks.

Re: the new guy

Welcome to the forum

My power steering adapter plate will work on the 4x4's also. I have sold several to guys that used them on 4x4's. As for the pump and brackets, that will depend on whether you have a small block or big block, short water pump or long water pump. If you can post up a pic of your engine, and we can help you get it figured out.

Re: the new guy

I got my new master cylinder with dual reservoir and vacuum assist. I am going to stay with the drum brakes. Just a little update then on to the power steering.

Re: the new guy

Pretty darn nice lookin' truck.
I sure understand why you're thinking 'bout p-steering.

As far as my personal situation, I drive mine daily and, as good as the manual set-up worked.....I sure am glad I did it.
One finger steering......easy in the tight spots.
I went with a Hydro-Boost on mine.
As I'm running the original GMC V-6, the pump brackets were an issue for me......a few extra hours fab-work.
Certainly worth it.
I'm thinkin' firenuttz is correct....the '70's stuff will work on your truck.
The only possible hang-up might be the frame & steering box issue....
(in which case, CaptainFab's got the right stuff)
Again,.....nice K-10

Re: the new guy

Welcome to the site! I also have a 1966 K15 with 283 and SM420 4 speed. I used the steering box, lines and pump off a 1972 Blazer K5. The brackets look like you will need ones from a 1973+ because it appears you have the long water pump and balancer from the picture. I made spacers for the frame to steering box but you can use the adapter stated above from CaptFab.

Re: the new guy

What are the exact years, and parts that I can use for the power steering, given the fact I have the long style water pump?

I got a few rust bubbles in a few spots any good body guys out there? Wondering how I should tackle the problem before it starts to get worse.
