I'm Really Stoked

I sold the slide in camper that was in the '70 Custom/20 to board member dieselwrencher and when we took it out this is what we saw. I thought the wood floor should be in pretty good shape but I didn't think it would be this good... It is not problem free but it is pretty darn nice. Now I get to put the early take off tailgate back on it. It was taken off in '72 or '73 when the original owners bought the slide in. I am the second owner of the truck and it is the first unmolested '67-'72 truck I have ever owned. I think the truck has the 8.5 x 16.5 steel wheels in the back and I am going to try and find some new 16.5 tires to put on it. I am in the process of cleaning the truck up and I will post a couple of pictures after I get that done. The paint is really dull so I am going over it with White Polishing Compound by hand, then I will put a coat of paste wax on it. LockDoc

Ohh My..Leon a great find. If the cab is as rust free as what the pics show the rest of the truck .. it has some really great potential. The color reminds me of the beauty you sold....

You should consider wet sanding it and rubbing it out. You'll have to be real carefull. but the results would be better. |

 (sorry Leon...knee jerk reaction)Isn't that amazing? That camper really protected it. Any water that would get in would be trapped and none got in. That's how the bed in my '71 Custom Camper looked,too. I took my camper off not long after I bought it to run naked unless going camping. I put a tonneau cover on to protect it...and enhance the overall beauty of the handsome 3/4t play truck,as well as give that look of a truck well loved. Those camper haulers are great survivors and were bought for pleasure (therefore,not neglected)

naaa, not all camper haulers were pampered. My longhorn spent most of it's life with a camper in it, and from the looks of the truck as a whole, it was left outside all those years too. The guy had a pontiac motor installed when the coolant froze, the wood was all gone and had some freeway signs thown in the bed... mine wasn't taken care of at all from what I can see (I'm the 3rd owner)

Thanks for the comments guys. I finished cleaning it up this morning and got one coat of wax on it. I have a little detail work left to do but it's lookin' pretty good. You can see the difference in the picture of the hood. No other hubcaps. I am going to leave them on it for now. LockDoc
