Vin Plate

I am trying to decode the data plate on my left door jam, I am interested in paint, int, rear end ratios etc.

the Vin I get, but below it is a series of codes:
Vin: CS147Z157124
Below: BID DD C 67 136 (the DD is smaller characters and placed a 1/2 line up from the other characters.

Thx,
Mike

Re: Vin Plate

you won't get paint, rear end ratios, bed type... not even engine size.
C 2 wheel drive
S inline 6 motor
1 1/2 ton
4 Cab with bed
7 1967
Z Built in freemont Cali
157124 is the 57124th truck off that line at that plant.

Re: Vin Plate

Thanks, I had translated the VIN.

Do you know if the truck would have come with PS and PB?

Re: Vin Plate

sorry, misread the original post.
Inlines with power steering and brakes are hard to come by, the older, the harder.
a 67 with an inline os most likely not optioned with those, but that is just a odds comment, not a specific to your truck comment.

Re: Vin Plate

I thought as much, when I bought the truck it had a 283 with a 350 behind it, a camero steering column (thus the power steering) and power brakes.

The brakes are very grabby, will almost throw you thru the windshield!!

I am thinking about taking the power brakes off or maybe there is a way to reduce the boost??

Re: Vin Plate

I would start with inspecting the brake condition. Out of adjustment (too loose) of shoe adjustment will do that, as will wet shoes (leaking brakes or axle seals).
