Tax Time, what's your truck valued at?

Well its that time of the year again and my town tax bill showed up and was way more then expected. Ive always had older vehicles and never really payed much in taxes but last year I picked up my truck and a 99 audi for the wife (got it cheap after a neighbor creamed a deere with it). They value my 76 chevy at 6020 dollars and the 99 a4 at only 3900. Im just not seeing it, I have an 85 buick regal and when regged in the past its never been valued more than 1000 dollars. I think Id have a hard time selling my truck even at half of what they value it. Am I crazy here or what?

No, you're not crazy. I have no idea where the hell they got that value. My dad had trouble getting that out of his '02, and it was pristine. Whoever valued like that was crazy.

That sounds more like it, I guess i'll be paying the town hall a visit. I was expecting to see some crazy low number and wasn't too pleased when I saw that. I had a 93 jeep I traded for my truck and even that was valued under 4 grand.

The 78-$800, I paid $5 tax including the $1.something convenience fee for paying online

My 01 was valued at arount $6500, no tax on the 67 b/c it's not on the road currently.

Sounds like someplace in the north east (only town I know by that name is in Conneticut). I am so glad my 70 and 83 only cost $25 for life. No taxes, plate fees or driving restrictions with our antique tags.

Haha how did you know? They did offer me antique plates for an extra 2 bucks when I registered but since they are technicaly passenger car plates I wouldn't be allowed to use the bed...

I would be broke, if they taxed my vehicles! I only pay license tax.

That's an outrageous price. If it was an insurance sure value it at as much as you want. It may be because its an antique. I'd pay a visit to city hall.

What is the basis/logic of taxing a car every year? Makes little to no sense to me.

Re: Tax Time, what's your truck valued at?

Now we need to know what the yearly registration/tags/whatever cost per year to compare. I suppose they dig you for that too, but it may be less.

I think my truck is $42 for the registration per year... Actually, I think all my vehicles are $42.
