Free Parts

I'm cleaning up the homestead to get it ready to sell and so I need to get rid of some stuff. This all will be free for local pick-up only (I'm in the San Diego area). this is all from my 1969 C20:

Claimed by scrapmetal(1) original bench seat. Has original saddle cover that is worn out on the driver's side butt area. The foam and springs seem good, i didn't notice any sagging at all. It has a tannish new seat cover from exactfitseatcovers.com; not quite exact fit, but it's fine for a driver. The rod that goes between the two sliders fell off, but I still have it complete with the brackets.

Claimed by cheyenne shortstep(2) original white camper mirrors. In good shape, with just surface rust. The PS mirror head looks like brand new (must have been replaced by po).

(3) five original 16" 8-lug split wheels with minor surface rust and various bias ply tires still mounted. They all hold air too!

(4) one 16.5" 8-lug wheel with old bias ply tire.

I can post some pictures if someone needs to see it before driving to get something.

Please, no PM's, first "I'll take it" here gets it.

Thanks,
Paul

Re: Free Parts

Nobody needs a nice set of mirrors? I suppose the wheels aren't used by anyone anymore. Any ideas on how to recycle them? My dump will take wheels, but not tires.

Thanks,
Paul

Here is a silly question: what are split wheels? Are they the ones that hold the dog dish caps? What did they come off of?

better known as widow makers, a split ring that hooks in a groove in the wheel to keep the tire/tube in place. in the wrong hands they can kill or injure a person trying to mount the tires.

Re: Free Parts

Split rims have a locking ring on the ouside designed to make it easy for a farmer to dismount a tire and fix the inner tube out in the field. They came standard on 1969 3/4 ton Chevy's.

Re: Free Parts

I am interested in the mirrors. I am willing to pay shipping etc and would like to see a picture. So, pending probability of shipping and picture: I will take them.
Thanks,
Justin

Sorry Justin, but as I mentioned above, they are free for local pick up only. I just don't have time to mess with shipping right now. Are you looking for mirrors like the ones on the truck in your profile? The ones I have aren't that long in the brackets I think.

I'll get some pictures to post this morning.

Thanks,
Paul

You got it BillyBob, he says he is coming Monday evening, but if something happens I'll let you know. Love your truck by the way, I'm following your build thread!

Edit...sorry, just caught the no shipping. But if no one takes the wheels, I'd love the hubcaps if you can ship them. I'd be willing to pay for them. Are all four there?

Yeah, I have all four caps, but I don't know if i am going to sell them. They are really nice and might be worth some $$. I may try and find some non-split wheels and use them.

That's what I'd do. They are not very common. Even if you're not going to use them, storing them away might prove to be better than money in the bank.

I just read your build thread; awesome truck and great work. I hope my truck will be that nice someday! It looks like you have NOS caps already! Seeing your trucks options makes me wish for a more loaded truck, sniff, sniff!

Paul,
if you are building your truck add the options as time/money becomes available. thats how my trucks ended up "loaded". i parted out 67-72s for many years starting in the 80s-they were plentiful and cheap back then- and kept the option goodies for myself and sold off the leftovers to help other truck people. i also picked up stuff off ebay and this site too. if you take your time and scrounge around, you might surprise youself with some rare goodies. i stopped to look at a cab on a scrap pile once and it still had a full set of seatbelts with shoulder harness in very nice shape, i asked the shop owner about them and he gave them to me. i traded a bench seat for a set of buddy buckets out of a 67 GMC from my neighbors brother, i swapped them while he was helping her move and he was happy to have a seat with foam under his butt. i have a lot of stories like that--just don't be in too big of a hurry and it'll come together for you.

Hi Paul,

Cool. I should have the bed back on this month so I can drive it around again. We should hook up and compare notes since we're neighbors. If you're heading my way sometime, PM me and I'll give you directions.

Good point, I already have the parts to add power steering, so I guess that's a start!
