Crossmember identification and question?

Hey guys I have been trying to find something on here about the crossmembers being almost universal in that on some trucks the crossmember was the same wether it was leafs or trailing arms. Is this correct?? Thanks in advance.

Here is a pic of mine

Re: Crossmember identification and question?

It looks like you are referring to the crossmember that is in the middle and it would react the trailing arms on a truck that has coil springs. From what I have seen the cross members are the same on the 2 wd whether coil or leaf springs. My son's original 69 GMC with leaf springs had the crossmember on it with the trailing arm brackets riveted to it.

Re: Crossmember identification and question?

Ok cause that's what im trying to figure out ...if with this crossmember I can convert to the trailing arms by installing the arm mounts and cutting the spring pads off and getting it mocked up and welded it in and install adjustable trac bar?
