switching hoods

Does a 1960 or 61 chevy or gmc hood bolt right on my 62 gmc? I couldn't find a post on this, or maybe over looked. Thanks for any info.

Not sure on the Chevy hoods, but the GMC 60-61 have different latches than the 62-66's.

Any 60-66 Chevy or GMC hood will work correctly on any 60-66 Chevy or GMC pickup truck or suburban, so long as the compatible hood latch is used. There are two different styles of hood latch (the mechanism that bolts on the hood). The release handle on the early 60-61 style points down while handle on the 62-66 style points to the driver side.

Thanks for the info guys. I think its to much work, I was thinking if it was a bolt on. but if I have to change the latch also thats just something else i have to find and buy. Thanks for all the info. much appreciated

i thought you could run any hood on any truck just didnt know what the catch was

I put a 61 gmc on a 65 chev, just needed a little adjusting to the hiegth of the pin...
