67-68 chevy side step

So I found a old chevy side step I believe its a 67 or 68, it has the spare tire mount on the drivers side between the cab and the wheel well, just wondering how rare it is? its the first time i've seen one like it.

thanks, as I said I have never seen one before. If one were to sell it what do you think a fair price would be?

My former ride.

The tire-mounting brackets are way more common than the fenders (in good shape) are.

The brackets are pretty-much bulletproof.

thats the same truck, so it is a 68? i'm planning to restore it, would it be worth it? that is why i am asking about the rarity of it.

Re: 67-68 chevy side step

from than angle, 68 - 72 look the same.
Did you get a title with it? Whats the VIN?
Most people prefer the non spare tire fender when fixing up or when buying.

Re: 67-68 chevy side step

my 67 has the same "spare tire fender", but i will be ditching it for a clean look. never been a fan of trucks with 3 tires on 1 side

Rare does not always translate into desireable....I think this is one of those cases.

Are you planning on buying to restore and then sell?

If you are going for the "shop truck" look, the spare looks right at home on the side. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Re: 67-68 chevy side step

after finding out the cost of a 67 rear DS fender without the spare cutout, i may opt to keep mine instead. it actually looks good with the stock ralley's or whitewalls as 68SHORTSTEP and NONECK have posted examples of.

Here is mine

Re: 67-68 chevy side step

The side mount spare on a Stepside bed is pretty common. These days there's been a huge wave of guys getting these trucks to stylize them into being as sleek as possible. The side-mounts aren't popular with that bunch. Many of that group don't even like Stepsides. But,either way these trucks are all desirable. Many actually prefer the things that make a truck a truck. And,I've seen many a customized Stepside that looked great with the side-mount.

Re: 67-68 chevy side step

i like the spare wheel on the side-makes it look like a farm truck which is my preference.also over here there arn't to many so means its different.bit worried about the comment about how they look with shiny paint as i'm in the process of upgrading the paint to all one colour so hopefully it'll be alright!!!
