STOLEN! Columbus
These are cars, but they are Chevy's, and I just want to get the word out.
A friend of mines custom '68 Camaro (light blue) AND another guys '68 Chevelle (maroon) were stolen this weekend from hotels in Columbus OH. They were there for a car show. Please keep an eye out and an ear open. Thanks guys. Shoot first, let the police ask questions later.

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
seems like I hear about this kind of theft a lot.. the carshow/motel .
probably prime picking grounds for a thief... I don't know what extra measures you could do to prevent it (maybe lock and chain a rotweiler to your car?), but this is definitely something to be aware of....

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
Happens alot around here in the midwest.. Normally they look for the whole rig , trailer car and tow vehicle ... the culprits must have had a bad day ...Columbus is on par with Detroit .. Detroit was the car theft capitol of the world ,we used to go back and forth with Gary indiana....

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
x2, they usually steal either the whole package, or disconnect the trailer(with your car on it) from the tow vehicle and just run off with that.
In my case, I don't trailer out. I thought about just putting my own truck up on jackstands for the night lol. not many theifs walk around with an extra set of wheels to steel your truck.

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
Here's an idea for hotels hosting car shows, extra security?

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
That really sucks. I think extra security would definitely be warranted. I would love, just once, to catch somebody in the act. Even if it's not my car.

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
When I did Hot August Nights back in 2002. The hotel I stayed at told me to park on the top floor and there was a watch 24 hours a day. It was nice insurance but I still was not at total ease.

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
a hidden battery disconnect or as some of my buddies do remove the battery and take it to the room with them. i know this sounds like drastic measures but here in alabama vehicles built before 1975 don't require a title only a bill of sale so theft of classic vehicles is very easy and a common occurrence here

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
when i worked at air ride we lost our 69 Camaro in Atlanta along with a dozen other high profile cars.... it's a shame... all we could think of is they are loaded on to containers and go over seas...

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
Man, that sucks! I was at the GG show last in Columbus last weekend and I was a little worried about someone messing with my truck overnight.
Any pics so we know what to look out for?

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
When I finish my truck Im going to rig up a train horn to a alarm system! I figure if im within a couple of miles of my truck I can hear the horns, plus it will draw a lot of attention if someone is screwing with it.

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
Did the guy check the hotel security cameras. They may have gotten the plate of the car they used to drive up in. My freind just had his car trailer stolen from his shop, it had all his quads and bikes in it. about 40k worth of toys. Caught it all on camera. Their looking for the truck that hauled it away but they didn't get a clean shot of the licence plate. Clean picture of the two guys, but without the truck plate they will have a tough time IDing the bad guys.

Re: STOLEN! Columbus
I have a GTO that when completed will be towed on a trailer where ever I go. I've been thinking about purchasing a wheel boot/lock, like the ones you get for not paying parking tickets And put one on the trailer, or for added security on all the wheels, and the GTO!
Something Like one of these: http://www.tirelock.com/
