Help identifying steering column

I'm trying to return the shifter on my column back to an actual shifter, but I'm not sure what year its from. I didn't think the 60-66 columns had a prevision for hazard lights on the column. Can anyone help me identify the column so i can get the right shifter arm? Thanks

Re: Help identifying steering column

I think that is a 72 (or 71-72, or 67-72... i.e. I don't know how many years they had that were common columns in the 67-72 series, but that looks a whole lot like a 72 Cheyenne I had. You are correct - no 60-66 had a hazard flasher switch in the column.

Probably the more important question is whether or not it was an auto or manual column to begin with - does it have the manual shifter ears at the end of the column to attache the shifter rods to (i.e. rods between the end of the column and the trans)? If so, they you probably just need the shifter rod on the interior end like you're talking about - if not, then you probably have an automatic column. I've enclosed some pics of what I mean by shifter "ears" - the pic is of the business end of a 666 manual column - but the end of a 72 manual column should have about the same look/connections.

You probably already know all this, just posting just in case.

Re: Help identifying steering column

It's 67-72. My 69 had that exact column.

Nice factory A/C by the way.

Re: Help identifying steering column

Thanks for the responses guys! It's certainly an auto column. At one point it was all working but I decided to rip it out about 10 years ago. I've always had my suspicions that it wasn't original. I'll just assume its a 71-72 and go from there. Here I come 67-72 part section.

@Woogeroo
Thanks for the link. I'll be going to the store and picking up a headlight connector and flasher today.

Is a 67-72 automatic column an easy swap into a 60-66 truck?

Re: Help identifying steering column

I picked one of those up.. when I was "shopping" I noticed that there were 2 different sizes of shift lever.. I am certian that the 67's were small, and the 72's large... but I do not know where the break for the change was... _this is where the shift lever fits into the coulmn piece...
the 67-72 guys should know for sure....

It looks like an easy swap but I cant really comment. The previous owner installed the one you see.
