When installing ball joints....
For the final torque setting on the spindle nuts, do you let the truck down off the jacks and then torque the spindle nuts down, or is it done without weight on the spindle?

I have always put a jack on the lower control arm and tighten it up all the way and then back it off a 1/4 turn that is what an allignment guy told me to do

Tighten it with the wheel off the ground. Should be tighened just enough so the wheel turns freely with no slack in the bearings. Spin the wheel as you tighten the nut to make sure the bearings are seated properly.

You guys thought I meant wheel bearing stuff....... I was talking about the studs of the ball joints and their corresponding nuts. Nevermind

Geez bro..... had a bad day or somethin? That wasn't meant to be a snicker at all, somehow that got misinterpretted, but I already found the answer to my question with one of my friends. Sounds like you're the one that needs to get a life for jumping down my back
