Re: American Auto Wire or Painless Wiring

I have used both several times. I like American Auto the best. It cost more more but seems like better quality parts. Paintless tech support sometimes get to be smart asses

Tom Vogel,
I talked with Wes this morning and he told me there is a company called M&H wiring that has the exact wiring harness as AAW and they are on the West Coast. He said they actually used to be part of AAW. Anyway I think I am going to get the AAW harness because thats the same kind of harness I put in my Sons 64 Pickup and it went in without a glitch. Im going to ask a question Tom, Did you fly S-3's in the Navy?

Re: American Auto Wire or Painless Wiring

M&H have been in the reproduction wiring business for longer than anyone, M&H were around long before AAW I believe. I have personally used M&H in my Chevelle, a complete plug and play deal. I even got one of the very first new fuse box harnesses with the ATO style fuses, the harness also was set up for a long water pump (my car a 68 so it had a left side alt) accessories, an internal regulator alt, and an HEI. It all worked without one issue, well actually there was one issue that involved FedEx ground (dumba$$es) but M&H got a replacement harness shipped quickly.

I used M&H for my 67 stepper. They sent EVERYTHING and used OEM wire sizes, colors and connectors so when you go to plug everything up it fits! The only difference between my harness and the stock one was the electronic ignition and Vintage Air A/C unit and they put the right connectors and wiring in the harness for no extra charge. I had expected to take a week or two wiring because of the changes but had all of it done in one day.

AAW's kit comes in a brief case size box. It really does come with everything you need. Even had a brand new ignition switch and set of keys.

It does sound like the other ones are top notch too. I definitely trust Wes when it comes to recommendations.

They are definitely good, and because of that sometimes you'll have a wait. If you need it in a hurry, better call them before you order.

Re: American Auto Wire or Painless Wiring

have used both m&h and aaw. If you are looking for a custom harness these are not, but they are the best in quality, fit and finish period. If you are wanting a custom harness be prepared for the work involved, installed one painless harness for a friend and it was a joke. It involved crimping ends and wire that looked like auto parts rolls and the associated ends were of the same quality that you would find on any parts store shelf. I say stay away from any build your own.
