'67-'72 Sighting in Baghdad!
Last night on the news they had a very short clip of group of Iraqi civilians leaving Baghdad in a Chevy stepside with a '67-'87 taigate. It was such a short clip that I could not get a fix on the fenders to see which year since the tailgates are the same. Might even have been older but no mistaking that Chevrolet across the back! I think they were trying to save the truck...LOL!

Not suprising to see one in Iraq. We were big trading partners with Iraq and Iran at one time especially the mid 70's before the Iranian revolution. Saddam Hussein had our full support during the Iran Iraq war and a lot of military and civilian support eqpt was sent over there including trucks.
Theres American trucks all over the world. Ive seen a few in Turkey and a nice '70 at a kibbutz in Israel . Saudi Arabia is crawling with American vehicles.I even saw one in St Petersburg, Russia which is probably the last place I would have expected. From what I hear theres American trucks all over Africa and India . Central America is supposed to be THE place to go for American truck sightings outside of America though.

I know this is a little off topic, but my mom works at a hospital, and one of the doctors she knows goes every summer for a week or two to somewhere in central or south america...i forget exactly where though. In one of the pictures he has from down there, it shows a group of people standing by this little house (i'm guessing a small farm) and parked next to the house is a late 50's Studebaker 4x4! Talk about RARE! And from what I've heard, the exports are even rarer (they made less or something). It'd be funny if Stude collectors knew about that, they'd make some poor farmer rich by central american standards just by buying this truck.

So far I've seen three, two older steps and one 80's fleet. I couldn't believe my eyes!

If you want to see old wheels go to Cuba. A friend went there (only to return from cruise to find it was illegal) and said honestly 8 out of 10 vehicles he saw were forty or more years old.

Dreaminator,Cuba was a very popular destination for Americans and American cars in the 20's to the revolution in the 50's.Lots of casino's.It was quicker for the people on the east coast to go to cuba than to vegas.I have been to Cuba. The people are really cool. They are poor, but will go out of the way to help You.
