Walnuts ?

Is it ok to blast our panels with walnuts ? I have someone that will blast if i buy the walnuts since we just gave him an Oliver 3 bottom plow.

From what I hear walnuts wont warp the metal, but how good is it for removing rust ?

Any Tips or pictures ?

Re: Walnuts ?

I had a small car done by a proffessional blasting shop that swore up and down that the walnuts wouldnt hurt nothin. Needless to say warped both my doors pretty bad. Didnt even notice it til I got into pretty good later down the road. It was a road racing car so I didnt get the hood or truck done cause they were both fiberglass. everytime I took that think out I'd have to break out the shop vac to suck up all the media grit working ing its way back out. Think Im going to pass on blasting this one.

Also worked great for getting all the rust out otherwise

Re: Walnuts ?

We walnut shell blasted my 66 gmc fleetside, no problems, the operator has to know not to stay on one spot too long or heat is generated and it warps the metal. Kieth

here is a link to my gallery where we acutally did the walnut shell blasting it ended up great and since the shells have a oil in them the parts do not rust quickly. Kieth
