Hey guys, I have a 66 C10 that I am working on (see build thread in signature), and I want to know if the engine is original and if not, what the exact specs are on it. I know it's a Chevy 230, but where would I pull numbers to determine the date of manufacture, etc?

I would like to order a rebuild kit for it and I would like to make sure I get the right stuff. Any advice on where to get a good kit would be welcome also

Man you do not need to worry about changes that engine has been around for awhile, the data tag by the drivers left leg should tell you what the truck came with, here is a link to checking it to make sure what it is. Kieth

Thanks Kieth. I'd still like to know what year it is, etc. I suspect that it's not original and am looking for someone with experience with casting numbers.

From what I am reading, it's a tough thing to tell for sure without pulling numbers directly off of the crank stamp.

Maybe I should qualify my problem a little more clearly. Below are some pictures of what I believe to be the casting numbers for my engine. Are these the correct numbers that I should be pulling? If so, they are not listed in the resources above. This is where I am confused.

Ok.... lets see.
It is not in there like you said.
The casting is 348675.
Anyhoot I did find this.
If it is 348675 it says it's a Buick 1976-75 250.
