I might have to get into the 21st century one of these days
I guess I will have to get into the 21st century some day soon. I was reading Sept. Hot rod and they took a stock junkyard 5.3 (they thought) from a truck and put some heads on it and bigger injectors and throttle body. It made 451 hp and 380 ft lbs torque in this slightly modified form. They then put a set of twin turbos on it and played with boost. They ended up getting 1203 hp at 26.8 psi and it stayed together. This was a stock used motor (except for the heads). They did like 60 dyno pulls. In the end, they found out it was actually a 4.8. Those LS engines are unbelievable! I just need to wait until they make a plug and play Computer and harness that connects to our gauges ( and is cheap) so an old fart like me could handle the swap.

For sure the new engines make a ton of power, especially considering their size. All the big 3 are making some crazy stuff, and I for one am glad to see it. Want a reliable, easy to drive 400+hp toy? One trip to any local Gm/Ford/Dodge dealership with some bucks and away you go.

IIRC it also had a gigged cyl. in it.It was an interesting article and makes me want a late model powered street cruiser.But alas,I'm with rsavage,it's gotta be plug and play for me too.

Yeah I too am hoping 'they' will come out with a simple plug 'n play wiring harness for these LS engines.
Would love to put a LQ9 6.0 in my 4x4 one of these years!
