finally put some color on this thing.

Hey guys just wanted to post a few pictures of my burb. hope to have this thing painted by the end of summer. it seems to be taking forever but slowly picking away at it. I put up a temporary paint booth in my shop and so far things have turned out pretty well.

I have owned this thing for 10 years and I figured I better get it done before my kids are all grown up and no need for a suburban anymore lol.

I'am painting mine the factory red with a white roof and lower trim. I want it to look exactly the way it came from the factory.

Re: finally put some color on this thing.

Thanks for the compliments guys!!! I'am getting really stoked about getting it painted so I can spend the winter puting it all back together and on the road next spring. My plan is to drive this thing lots.

Re: finally put some color on this thing.

Here is a few more pictures. I painted the body on tuesday night. I want to polish the whole thing before I put it together so I have a few hours ahead of me. looks pretty good so far but I'am not so crazy about these new low VOC clears as I could not get the clear to lay down like I wanted. I polished the endgate last night and it looks really good but I spent about 3 hours on it alone. I hope to have the body rubbed down within the next couple of weeks but we will see.

I bought all new lower trim but was not aware they even made upper trim for suburbans. I went on to mar-k's website and it did not list upper trim just the lowers. now I'am curious!!!

Call and talk to James. The doors and front fender are the same as the truck. I worked with him to make the 3rd door and and the rear pieces. He made extras when he made mine. Let me know if you need any other information.

Re: finally put some color on this thing.

Thanks for the info Hart Rod but at this point I don't think I want to change direction. It would be pretty cool to just have the upper trim and not two tone it thou. I noticed on yours that you do not have any holes for the trim how were you going to put them on?

I'll drill the holes when I get ready to put the trim on.

Thanks man!!! I just finished polishing it last night so I am going to start puting this thing back together. Maybe it will be back together before snow flies so I can drive it for a few days.
