What were stock wheels/tires on a 60-66 C20 3/4 ton

Hey guys, I have been searching through old posts but have been unable to find the stock wheel and tire size for the 60-66 3/4 ton 2wd (I want to know specifically the 64-66).

I have read the wheels were both 17.5" eight lug and 16.5" eight lug. Both of these being split rims? I am not familiar with what exactly split rims are or their purpose/function.

Does anyone know what sized tires came on these trucks? Was there a heavy duty wheel option that could explain why people said there were two different sizes? Maybe I just misunderstood the posts.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
James

Says here that you could get a 17.5" or 19.5" 8 bolt tubeless rim in 64-66. I think the tubeless were not a split rim. I'm to far away from my books to confirm. I had seen some 19.5" rims on a truck when I was in Arizona at Desert Valley Auto Parts. You really notice them.

Any wheel that is "XX.5" is tubeless (17.5", 19.5", 22.5" etc...).

Parts book actually.
Tires in these sizes are far and few between, here's how I got around the look I wanted and the tires that are available.

aerotruck63 - do they have those in reprints or was that something you found at a swap meet or online somewhere?

Re: What were stock wheels/tires on a 60-66 C20 3/4 ton

Parts book came from a buddy who worked at a GM dealer all his life, he brought a ton of stuff home. He gave me my shop manual, then the parts books for light and heavy duty. The rest of my collection, ebay and swap meets. Look on Ebay they come up every once and awhile. There's different years that they cover but if you get a newer book they don't list all the parts though they say they cover the years.

One very nice feature of a parts book is, the parts are shown disassembled AS THEY GO TOGETHER, not at random. I have used parts pages to clarify assembly sequences and parts identification/positioning.

So, BOTH manuals and parts books are our pals, good pals.

What Brand tires are you running? If they are modern tires, what size.

Thanks,

James

I have 17.5" one piece wheels with the hubcap clips that are original for my '61 C20. Problem is finding 17.5" tires nowadays.
