Re: where to get new electrical connectors
The first step is to find the GM part numbers for the connectors you want. You can to that by going to this website and entering your information (number of cavities/pins, male or female, etc.). The website will show you pictures of the connector/harness/pigtail, etc. you might be looking for. Match the picture to the connector/harness you need and you will have your part number.
http://www.oehq.com/pigtails.cfm I check the following websites for AC Delco or OEM GM parts: www.oehq.com www.oewarehouse.com www.rockauto.com www.gmpartsdirect.com www.autopartstomorrow.com Some of these suppliers have free shipping over a certain amount (like $25, $50, etc.) so you need to watch that when comparing prices. GMpartsdirect has the highest shipping price, in my experience, but they sometimes have the lowest price on parts, so if you are buying a lot of parts, especially big bulky parts, they are sometimes the lowest in total cost. Autopartstomorrow I just started using and they seem to be very good in shipping time and quality of parts so far. Also, do a google search for coupons on the vendor you select. I think you can usually get 5% off from Rock Auto (which can help offset their shipping cost) and I think I got a coupon for one of the "oe" places. I think the bottom line is that you can usually get near the mechanic's price and have the parts delivered to your door often for free. Most importantly for me , the local Chevy dealerships won't help me find parts for my 28 year old truck - so I am on my own. I try to stay away from aftermarket parts unless the OEM are way too expensive or unavailable. Gook Luck. Post back if you have any problems. |

Re: where to get new electrical connectors
Do you mean you could not find the part number?
Can you post the number of cavities (or pins) in your connectors and whether you need male or female? Pictures would help. This will help you get the part number. Once you have the part number finding them should be easy. |

Re: where to get new electrical connectors
I get PT2348 for the backup light connector/harness (GM part number 88862267). Check to see if this is the correct one.
http://www.oewarehouse.com/item.wws?...AL&weight=1.75 If you have a 4 pin brake light connector and still have it left to look at, then you can match it up with one of the connectors on this page: http://www.oehq.com/pigtails.cfm Don't forget to search all of those websites to get the best price once you get the part number. |

Re: where to get new electrical connectors
GM part numbers can be found the GM wiring diagrams. Prior to the mid 1980s GM used Unsealed Packard 56 series connectors in most places including the engine compartment.
A 1976 uses two Packard 56 single cavity connectors GM part # 2962793 for cruise control on the stop lamp switch. The neutral safety switch on that same 1976 truck uses a Packard 56 double cavity connector GM part # 2973407. The Terminals are more available than housings. Used housings with brand new terminals inside can be installed once you know what connector family you are dealing with. Terminal Supply Co, & Waytek Wire are a couple vendors with a pretty good selection of Delphi Packard sealed and not sealed connectors and parts. I've liberated obsolete or hard-to-find connector housings from vehicles in salvage yards. I always ask permission before cutting connectors off a harness. Someone else may need more than just a few housings so I always try to grab my prizes from already damaged harnesses. More info here with a much better writing style. http://www.rowand.net/Shop/Tech/Auto...Connectors.htm |

Re: where to get new electrical connectors
advanced auto typically has the best selection of pigtails
just tell them what year you have what the end is and they might even have it on hand.. crap i went in the other day for a LT4 oil pan level sensor pigtail. a random arseac compressor pigtail from that car and then a transmission pigtail for a 4l60e.. all in stock in the store in a small town!..
