87 trim removal question

I am removing the trim form a 1987. Got everything off except for the silverado trim on the front fenders. I have read here that you need to remove the fender to access the nuts. There is what appears to be an inspection plate on the inside back of the fenderwell. Is it possible to get to the nuts through opening? Is there a trick to getting this plate off, I have removed the 3 bolts but the plate does not budge?

You have to take the fenders off to get at the nuts unless you have super small hands . That plate does not come off , I think it is just an extra brace

Agree. The plate you are referring to is a reinforcement to help with front end structure and will not help you access the fasteners for the emblem.

Forgive me for suggesting this, but if you are not keeping the emblems you can whack them with a hammer (or a piece of flat wood with a hammer) and that will shear the plastic pins holding them on.

Thanks for the info. Looking at that plate you would think it would come off after removing the 3 bolts, but it doesn't budge. I dont want to remove the fenders so maybe i'll try a hacksaw blade or a sharp putty knife to cut the studs. Like to keep them in one piece so if I decide to put them back on I can re-attach them with double back tape.
